Once upon a time, a long time ago there was a kingdom in Dieng that had a beautiful princess named Shinta Dewi. Lots of princes and nobles want to propose to Princess Shinta Dewi. But no one has dared come to ask for her hand.
There was a rich prince named Kidang Garungan. Besides being rich, he is also known to be very powerful. Pangeran Kidang Garungan has heard about the beauty of Princess Shinta Dewi. He is interested in asking for her hand. He then sent a messenger to the kingdom of Dieng to deliver his proposal to Princess Shinta Dewi.
Hearing the explanation from the Prince Kidang Garungan messenger, Putri Shinta Dewi finally agreed with the proposal of Prince Kidang Garungan, because he was interested in the wealth and magic of the Prince. "Well, I accept the proposal of the Prince of the Garfield Court. Tell your prince to come directly here to submit his application. " said Princess Shinta Dewi.
Kidang Garungan Applying for Shinta Dewi
After hearing the explanation from his messenger that Princess Shinta Dewi accepted his proposal, Prince Kidang was very pleased. He immediately prepared himself to go to Dieng. He then prepared a beautiful gold-plated wagon along with the best choice horses. Not to forget, various beautiful gifts have been prepared to be given to Shinta Dewi. Then Prince Kidang Garungan left accompanied by the guards.
While at Dieng's palace, Shinta Dewi had held a welcoming ceremony at the Royal Palace. The palace has been decorated with various ornaments. Various kinds of entertainment have also been prepared to welcome the rich prince of magic.
Not long after Prince Kidang Garungan arrived at Princess Shinta Dewi's palace. But how shocked Princess Shinta Dewi was when she saw the appearance of the Prince. His body went limp when he found out that Prince Kidang Garungan had a head like a male deer. The prince's body was sturdy again, but his head was in the shape of a male deer's head complete with both horns.
Immediately Princess Shinta Dewi called the ladies in waiting. He said that he wanted to reject the Prince's proposal but felt uneasy. After all this time feeling uneasy, finally Shinta got the idea to reject the Prince's proposal. He also asked the royal soldiers to get ready to accept his orders.
Then Shinta Dewi went to see the Garidang Court. The Princess proposed the condition that the prince make a very deep and large well if he wanted to marry her. "Let the Prince make me a very deep and large well if he is serious about marrying me. The prince must make it himself. We will use it to take our baths together, "said Shinta Dewi.
Initially the Prince felt astonished but finally wanted to obey the request of Shinta Dewi. Immediately, without wasting time he immediately worked to make the well demanded by Shinta Dewi. Prince Kidang mustered all his powers. He dug the ground to create a large hole. Both sturdy arms and sturdy then continued to dig the ground. Both horns are used to dig hard soil. In a short time a huge hole had been created. Shinta Dewi's request well is almost complete.
Kidang Garungan buried in a hole
Seeing the Prince's ability to make wells, Shinta Dewi felt scared. He thought hard to frustrate the work of the Garidang Court. In a state of panic, without a second thought Shinta Dewi ordered her soldiers to pile the hole with soil so that Kidang Garungan was buried in the ground. The soldiers immediately threw the ground into the hole. As a result the hole was buried by the ground to cover the body of Prince Kidang Garungan.
Of course Prince Kidang Garungan was surprised. He was very angry when he found out the hole had been piled on the orders of Shinta Dewi. Finally he realized that Shinta Dewi was trying to derail their marriage. He also exerted his powers to get out of the hole. Then there was a big explosion when the Prince tried to get out of the heap of land. The ground around the hole shook violently. However, before the Prince managed to get out of the hole, Shinta Dewi ordered the soldiers to backfill with dirt. The soldiers worked hard to fulfill Shinta Dewi's order to hoard the hole until finally the Prince was unable to get out dfrom the hole.
Sikidang Crater was formed
Realizing he was not able to get out of the hole, the Prince of the Garlands was very angry. He was hurt until finally he gave a curse on Princess Shinta Dewi. He cursed all descendants of Shinta Dewi would have dreads. "Hi Shinta Dewi! What you are doing is really too much! Hopefully all your descendants will have dreads. " Prince Kidang Garungan shouted from the hole.
Until now, the well continued to explode, causing the ground above to shake violently. The surrounding community named the well named Sikidang Crater. In Javanese, Kidang means deer. The community also believes that the residents around Dieng who have dreadlocks, are descendants of Princess Shinta Dewi.
