The following is a collection of Indonesian folklore, folktales, fairy tales, and legends in the midst of the people of South Sumatra Province.

South Sumatra Province has a capital in the city of Palembang and is located in the southern part of the island of Sumatra, bordering Bengkulu Province, Jambi Province, Bangka Belitung Province, and Lampung Province.

The legend of Kemaro Island
Kemaro Island is a small delta on the Musi River, Palembang, South Sumatra. There is a folk tale about Kemaro Island which is said to be related to the love story of a daughter of the king of Sriwijaya, Siti Fatimah, and a merchant from China, Tam Bun An. It is said that during the era of the Srivijaya kingdom, ruled a wise king who had a beautiful daughter named Siti Fatimah.
