The Legend of Aji Saka

Once upon a time, there lived a young man named Aji Saka living in a village called Medang Kawit. Everyday he is accompanied by his bodyguards, Dora & Sembada. News of the cruelty of the King of the Gods Cengkar had reached his ears. Aji Saka plans to go to Medang Kemulan to help ordinary people.

So the young man left for the kingdom of Medang Kemulan, accompanied by his two bodyguards, Dora & Sembada. When he arrived in the Kendeng Mountains, Aji Saka ordered one of his bodyguards, Sembada, to stay there while guarding his inheritance keris.

"Sembada, you stay here to guard my inheritance keris. Do not leave the kris to anyone. Later I will take the kris. Me and Dora will continue the journey to Medang Kemulan. " he said to Sembada.

"Fine, I'll take care of your keris. I promise not to hand it over to anyone other than your majesty. " answered Sembada.

Aji Saka Successfully Kills the King of the Gods Cengkar

While continuing the journey with Dora, they accidentally met Patih Jugul Muda. They both saw Patih Jugul Muda appear confused. Apparently the governor had not yet succeeded in getting humans to be handed over to King Dewata Cengkar. After chatting for a while, Aji Saka then offered himself to be handed over to King Dewata Cengkar. Hearing Aji Saka's request, Jugul Muda was delighted. They immediately left for the palace Medang Kemulan.

Arriving at the palace they immediately faced the God of Cengkar. Aji Saka requested a request before the King ate it. Namely, Aji Saka requested that the King of the Gods Cengkar give him land as large as his turban. The cruel king immediately agreed.

"What was your wish before I fell prey?" asked Dewata Cengkar, laughing out loud.

"Your Honor, I only request land as large as your sorbents." answered Aji Saka.

Dewata Cengkar immediately agreed. Immediately Aji Saka held his turban. Oddly enough. His turban continues to expand and expand to cover the entire Medang Kemulan. Dewata Cengkar very angry because he felt Aji Saka had challenged him.

"Damn you young man! It turns out you want to challenge me. " King of the Gods Cengkar immediately attacked him. But the turban that had expanded, covered the body of the Goddess Cengkar and rolled it up until it disappeared on the big choppy southern coast. Dewata Cengkar was killed instantly.

Word of the death of the vicious King Dewata Cengkar was widespread. All the people of Medang Kemulan were very happy. The People's Medang Kemulan then made Aji Saka king. Aji Saka now governs Medang Kemulan Kingdom wisely.

Dora And Sembada fight

After becoming king, Aji Saka then remembered his keris which he left with Sembada in the Kendeng Mountains. King Aji Saka then told his bodyguard Dora to take the inheritance keris that Dora was holding.

Dora immediately went to the Kendeng Mountains to retrieve Aji Saka's heirloom keris. Arriving in the Kendeng Mountains, Dora meets Sembada. They both release each other longing. Dora tells that Aji Saka has become the king of Medang Kemulan. Sembada was happy to hear that. Dora then said that the purpose of his arrival was to take Aji Saka's heirloom keris. But Sembada refused because Aji Saka ordered that the one who could take the heirloom keris was Aji Saka himself. The two of them finally fight over the inheritance keris. The fight took place fiercely because both are equally powerful. Finally they both died from fighting for the sake of carrying out the mandate of Aji Saka.

At Medang Kemulan, Raja Aji Saka was anxiously awaiting Dora's arrival. He remembered ordering to Sembada not to hand over his inheritance to anyone except himself. Worried that something unexpected had happened, Aji Saka soon followed into the Kendeng Mountains. But too late, when he got there, Aji Saka found two bodyguards, Dora & Sembada, lying stiff. Aji Saka felt guilty and very sad. Out of respect for the loyalty of his two employees, Aji Saka then created the Javanese script that tells the loyalty and fight of his two bodyguards.

According to legend, Aji Saka was the first to bring civilization to Java, the creator of the ancient Javanese script "Hanacaraka" and the Saka calendar.

According to folklore from Central Java, Aji Saka was a handsome young man again defending commoners from the cruelty of the Cengkareng and cruel God King Cengkar. Once upon a time in Central Java Province there was a kingdom named Medang Kemulan.
