Japan or Nihon is an island country in East Asia located in the northwest Pacific Ocean. It borders the Sea of Japan to the west, and it extends from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and Taiwan in the south. Japan is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire and comprises an archipelago of 6,852 islands covering 377,975 square kilometers (145,937 sq mi); its five main islands, from north to south, are Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa. Tokyo is the country's capital and largest city; other major cities include Osaka and Nagoya.

According to a children's fairy tale from Japan, long ago there lived a kind-hearted young man named Urashima Taro. He lives with his mother in a house by the beach. His mother is old. Everyday, Urashima Taro earns his living by fishing in the sea. Urashima Taro is also known as a young animal lover.

In a village in Japan, lived a pair of grandparents. They are already old. One day, grandma went to the river to wash clothes. While washing, grandma saw a peach or momo fruit in Japanese, washed away by the river currents. The grandmother then picked up the momo fruit to take home.

Once upon a time, there lived a young man who lived in the village. The young man was very hard working. He works in a forest close to where he lives. One sunny morning, he went to the forest with a happy heart. However, his footsteps stopped when he tripped over a shirt on the river bank. He looked at the dress, it was very beautiful. Thinking that the shirt had no owner, the young man finally took the shirt and stored it.

Issun Boshi
Once upon a time, at a temple in Japan, a husband and wife were praying for a child. They have lived together for a long time, but their happiness feels incomplete because they are not blessed with a child. After they finished praying, they went home. However, they heard the sound of a baby crying behind the bushes as they walked towards the house. They tried to find the baby, so they saw a dwarf-sized baby lying on the grass.

The Straw Millionaire
In a village, there lived a young man named Taro. Taro is a poor young man whose life is always lacking. Despite his lack of life, Taro is always diligent in praying to the shrine of worship. He always prayed to the gods so that his life would change and become prosperous. Every day, Taro always worshiped at the temple. Being tired, Taro fell asleep in the temple after praying.
