The following is a collection of Indonesian folklore, folktales, fairy tales, and legends that exist among the people of East Kalimantan Province.
The province of East Kalimantan is located in the eastern part of the island of Borneo, with the capital city of Samarinda and has the motto Ruhui Rahayu which means perfect balance in all things thanks to God's blessing.

The Origin of the Lipan Lake
The following is the folklore of the East Kalimantan region regarding the origin of the Lipan Lake. Lake Lipan is a large area of shrubs in the Muara Kaman sub-district, Tenggarong, the capital of Kutai Kartanegara Regency in East Kalimantan Province. The area is named Centipede Lake because in ancient times it was a place filled with large centipedes.
