Ki Ageng Mangir is a folk tale from Yogyakarta, a province close to Central Java Province. Ki Ageng Mangir is a figure who has the magical knowledge of mandraguna. He has a magical spear called Baru Klinthing. It is said that Baru Klinthing is a spear made from the tongue of a giant dragon snake named Baru Klinthing. Even though he is brave, Ki Ageng Mangir has a haughty and arrogant nature.

The following is a folk tale originating from the Yogyakarta area entitled Begawan Selapawening. According to folklore, Begawan Selapawening was the son of the Majapahit king named Brawijaya, he moved away to a place because of the influence of Islam on the island of Java. Because they did not want to accept the influence of Islam, they moved to a place that was not influenced by Islam.

According to legend, in ancient times there were two kingdoms as big as neighbors, the Prambanan kingdom and the Pengging kingdom. The Prambanan kingdom was led by King Boko who had a very beautiful daughter named Roro Jonggrang. Meanwhile, the Pengging kingdom was led by the king of Pengging. King Pengging is known to be very hungry for power.
