In ancient times, the Gods in heaven placed a mountain in the middle of Java Island. The mountain is named Jamurdipa. The purpose of placing a mountain on the island of Java is none other than to balance the shape of the land on the island. The island of Java turns out to have uneven land, there are highlands, lowlands, valleys, ravines and so on. Initially, Mount Jamurdipa was located in the South Coast area, but the mountain was moved to the border of Sleman, Boyolali, and Klaten Regencies.
Empu Rama and Empu Parmadi
At the border of the three regencies that will be used as the location of Mount Jamurdipa, there are only two very powerful masters. These masters made keris from metal by forging directly with their own hands, and thighs as the basis for making keris. They do not use hammers or other metal anvils to make keris. The two masters were named Empu Rama and Empu Parmadi.
Because the area occupied by Empu Rama and Empu Parmadi would be occupied by Mount Jamurdipa, the Gods sent Batara Narada and Dewa Panyarik to come to the two masters and asked them to immediately move from that place. Because that place will be occupied by a mountain, other than that so that they will not be crushed by the mountain.
Empu Rama and Empu Parmadi Asked to Move
Batara Narada and Dewa Panyarik also said to the two magic masters, "O Empu Rama and Empu Parmadi, this area will be placed a mountain, we are afraid that the mountain will crush you. You better move out of this place. "
"Thank you for your coming, Batara Narada and Dewa Panyarik, we are sorry, because we can not being able to move. If we move, we are worried that the quality of our kris will not be good,” replied Empu Rama.
Batara Narada and Dewa Panyarik finally advised the two magic masters to move. Because, if the area is not occupied by a mountain, Java Island will undoubtedly be tilted even more. However, the two masters were tough on their stance. They still don't want to move from that place.
Empu Rama and Empu Parmadi Refuse to Move
As a result, Batara Narada and Dewa Panyarik became angry. They have tried to advise the two magic masters, but to no avail. They ended up having a fierce battle. The fight was finally able to beat back Batara Narada and Dewa Panyarik, because the powers of Empu Rama and Empu Parmadi were far more powerful.
Batara Narada and Dewa Panyarik returned empty-handed to heaven. The gods in the heaven became angry at the actions of Empu Parmadi and Empu Rama. Batara Guru finally decided that Mount Jamurdipa would immediately be blown to where Empu Rama and Empu Parmadi were.
“They are both very stubborn. They don't care that if the mountain is not moved it will result in the island of Java getting tilted. All right, Dewa Bayu, hurry up and blow up Mount Jamurdipa right now!” Batara Guru's orders.
The Origin of Mount Merapi
Not long after, Dewa Bayu then blew Mount Jamurdipa to move to a new place. The mountain is finally in a new place. The fireplace of Empu Rama and Empu Parmadi was finally crushed, right in the middle of the mountain. As a result, Empu Rama and Empu Parmadi were crushed by mountains. Because the fireplace was in the middle of the mountain, the fireplace of Empu Rama and Empu Parmadi turned into a mountain crater. The Merapi mountain is a very active mountain, because the crater of the mountain is very powerful and always sparks fire. This is a folklore from Yogyakarta.
