The Good Name Combination

According to Madurese, in East Java, if a husband and wife have a good mix of names, then they will get good luck. Such is the belief in Madura. Here follows East Javanese folklore about a Lasmudin and Mukdima couple who are lucky because they have a good mix of names. Here's the story:
The Good Name Combination

Once upon a time there was a young man named Lasmudin. Lasmudin has long liked a woman named Mukdima, the son of Pak Mukdima. Lasmudin then asked smart people whether his name by the name of Mukdima the idol had a good blend of names. The result, according to smart people, is that they have a good mix of names and will have good luck if they get married later. Lasmudin was very happy with the information from the smart person.

In short, after trying hard, Lasmudin finally succeeded in marrying his idol, Mukdima. After marriage, they stayed at Mukdima's parents' house. Lasmudin's in-laws are very upset with Lasmudin's attitude, because Lasmudin works every day only by making cloth dolls and hanging from his bed, then moving them around. After the doll moved then laughed.

Pak Mukdima calls his child. "Son, your husband is Lasmudin, every day he works only making cloth dolls and keeps moving and laughing himself. Tell your husband to work to help father mowing the grass or weeding plants. It just eats and plays with dolls. Usually we run out of three rice dishes, now that Lasmudin is there, it becomes four rice dishes. " Pak Lasmudin said to his child.

Mukdima then goes to her husband. "Mas, help my father's work mowing the grass or weeding plants. Don't just eat and play with dolls all the time. Father gets angry every day, Mr. Lasmudin only works on rice. " said Mukdima.

"Never mind, bro, just eating one plate of rice is not much. Mix my name and your name well. They say we will get good luck. So no need to work hard. It's enough to play with these dolls. " Lasmudin said casually.

Mukdima then delivered Lasmudin's answer to his father. Cash, Lasmudin's in-laws were very angry with Lasmudin's answer. "Hopefully there is an earthquake and Lasmudin will be killed by the ruins of the house." her in-laws nagged.

The Daughter of the King Sicks

Meanwhile in the royal palace, the king's daughter is ill. The king has brought many doctors to treat his daughter, but his daughter's illness has not healed. One day the king's princess dreamed that she saw cute dolls made of cloth. He asked his father to find the cloth dolls. "Father, I dreamed of seeing cute dolls made of cloth. Please find the dolls for me, Father. " begged his daughter.

The king immediately ordered his soldiers to look for dolls made of cloth throughout the country. But no one managed to get it.

There was a sweeper who went to the king and said that he had seen dolls made of cloth. "My God, I have seen dolls made of cloth. The place is not far from here. "

The king was happy to hear that. The king immediately ordered the Patih and the soldiers to deliver the sweeper to where the cloth dolls were.

Arriving at Lasmudin's house, the royal trainer then asked Pak Mukdima. "Is it true that there are cloth dolls here?"

"Oh yeah right. The cloth dolls were made by my son-in-law Lasmudin. The lazy person. Bring her law. " said Mr. Mukdima.

After seeing Lasmudin's puppets, Patih then ordered the soldiers to bring Lasmudin with his dolls to the royal palace.

"Thankfully. Finally the lazy Lasmudin was sentenced by the king. " said Mr. Mukdima.

A good combination of names will bring good luck

Upon arrival at the palace, Lasmudin's cloth dolls were immediately shown to the princess. Seeing the dolls, the princess laughed happily. Not long after the princess was sick from healing.

The king is very happy because his daughter has recovered from his illness. For the services of Lasmudin, the king then gave Lasmudin prizes in the form of 50 grams of gold, a bag of money, a bag of rice and two sacks of corn. The soldiers were then told by the king to take Lasmudin to his house using the palace train.

Lasmudin arrived at his house using the palace chariot, escorted by royal soldiers and brought many gifts from the king. Lasmudin called his wife and asked him to tell his parents-in-law that he had come with many gifts from the king. "My wife, tell your father that I have come with many gifts of money and gold from the king."

"Father, my husband has returned from the royal palace with the prize money and gold." Mukdima said to his father.

"What? There's no way the lazy Lasmudin got a prize of money and gold from the king. " Ayah Mukdima doesn't believe.

The royal soldiers then took down all gifts from the train. Stared at Pak Mukdima's eyes, he saw the gifts. Finally, Pak Mukdima believes that Lasmudin has luck despite being lazy. Since then Pak Mukdima has never been angry at Lasmudin again. Thus the belief of the Madurese at that time, that a good combination of names will bring good luck.
