Once upon a time, a long time ago there lived a man in the land of Pasundan or now West Java, named Kabayan. Kabayan is known to be very lazy, stupid, but surprisingly a lot of sense. His guile was often used to support his lazy nature. Si Kabayan already has a wife named Nyi Iteung. Kabayan's in-laws are already very upset with his son-in-law's nature. He often scolded his son-in-law but Si Kabayan always had guile in dealing with his in-laws.
Kabayan Looking for Tutut
One day Si Kabayan was told by his parents-in-law to take tutut in the fields. Tutut is a kind of small snails in the fields. Rice field Tutut is cooked using spices by boiling it. Si Kabayan obeyed his father-in-law's orders to find tutut in the fields. He went to the fields but was lazy.Upon arrival in the rice fields, Si Kabayan was not looking for tutut but instead sat lounging on the rice field dike. Kabayan's father-in-law waited a long time at home, but Si Kabayan did not come. Finally Kabayan's parents-in-law followed him into the fields.
Arriving in the fields, Kabayan's in-laws were not angry. He found his son-in-law sitting lounging on a rice field dike.
"Hi Kabayan! I told you to look for tutut but instead you were comfortable sitting around. You lazy bum! " his in-laws shouted.
"Ouch Abah, I'm afraid I want to go down to the fields, the problem is very deep. Look at Abah! I was so deep, the sky was seen in the paddy water. " Kabayan said reasoned.
Annoyed at his son-in-law's laziness, Si Kabayan's father-in-law then pushed his son-in-law's body to the ground. The Kabayan fell into the fields while smiling.
"Ouch Abah, the field is shallow."
He then took small snails in the rice fields.
Si Kabayan Love Music
One day Nyi Iteung again came spoiled. Somehow he really wanted to eat jackfruit. Nyi Iteung then went to her beloved husband, Si Kabayan."Kang Kabayan, Iteung wants to eat jackfruit tea, please take Kang Iteung Jackfruit fruit on the tree. There are already those who are blinded. " said Nyi Iteung, pointing at the jackfruit tree.
"Yes Nyi, I'll get the jackfruit. Never mind just riding jackfruit trees, just going on a ship I want for Nyai mah. " said Kabayan.
He then went to the kitchen to get a machete. With a machete on his waist, Si Kabayan swiftly climbed a fairly tall jackfruit tree and many branches. Once on the jackfruit tree, Kabayan immediately cut a ripe Jackfruit fruit using its machete. Bag ... big ... bug ... as soon as the sound of Jackfruit fruit fell on the branches of trees before reaching the ground. Si Kabayan likes the sound of jackfruit falling. He thought of it as melodious music.
"Wow, the sound of jackfruit is falling down, it is very melodious like music. What if my machete throws down? His voice must be more melodious. " the Kabayan mumbled.
Then Kabayan dropped his machete. Tang..ting..tung..tang..ting..tung..teng .. so the sound of the machete hit the branch and finally fell on the ground.
"Wow, the sound is good." said Si Kabayan.
"Let me drop this one, it must be even more melodious." said Si Kabayan.
Suddenly a noisy sound "Gubrak! wow! brug! aawww! heck! ouch! Buk! Iteeeeeung !!! Please help me, Iteung. " Kabayan shouted in pain.
It turns out Si Kabayan dropped his own body.
Picking Ripe Jackfruit
The other day, Si Kabayan was told by his in-laws to pick ripe jackfruit. Jackfruit tree is located on the edge of the river, where the stem protrudes above the river. The Kabayan climbed the jackfruit tree lazily. He was afraid his father-in-law was furious if he did not obey his orders.In the tree he saw that the jackfruit was ripe. Picking the ripe jackfruit. But unfortunately, because it is quite difficult, jackfruit dropped into the river. Si Kabayan let the ripe jackfruit drift in the river. He then returned to his in-law's house.
At home, his mother-in-law seemed upset when he saw his son-in-law come home without bringing the ripe jackfruit he asked for.
"Where is the ripe jackfruit I asked for?" Asked his in-laws.
"Well, isn't the jackfruit I picked earlier arrived? When I picked it, the jackfruit dropped into the river. It seems he wants to walk alone. So I let him walk alone. I told him to hurry home, but apparently the jackfruit hasn't arrived yet? Jackfruit don't know himself, he doesn't want to obey my orders. " Si Kabayan casually answered.
"What are you, Kabayan? How can jackfruit walk alone to the house. You are lazy for many reasons. " his in-laws shouted in annoyance.
The Kabayan just laughed and was scolded by his in-laws.
Picking Koro Beans
On another day, his father-in-law invited Si Kabayan to pick M. pruriens in the garden. For this purpose, they brought a sack to transport M. pruriens. Just picking some M. pruriens, Si Kabayan began to relapse his lazy disease. He looks sleepy, then enters the sack to sleep in it.By noon, Kabayan's in-laws had finished picking M. pruriens. He was astonished because he did not find Kabayan.
"The Slacker must have gone home because he was lazy to lift a sack filled with M. pruriens. You lazy son-in-law! " Si Kabayan's father-in-law then carried the sack which he thought contained M. pruriens to the house.
He wondered why the M. pruriens felt so heavy. Arriving at home, Kabayan's father-in-law then opened a bag of M. pruriens. How surprised he was when he found that in the sack it appeared that Si Kabayan was sleeping soundly.
"I bring sacks for M. pruriens! Not for humans, Kabayan! " Kabayan's father in law is not playing.
The Kabayan woke up from his sleep while smiling. The next day Kabayan's parents-in-law again invited him to pick M. pruriens in the garden. He was still very upset with what had happened the previous day.
Abah intends to get revenge. When Kabayan was picking koro beans, his parents-in-law secretly went into the sack to sleep. He hoped that Kabayan would carry the sack home as he had done yesterday. At the Dhuhur prayer, Si Kabayan stopped his work. He then looked into the sack and was surprised to see his mother-in-law sleeping inside the sack. Kabayan then ties the koro bean sack and drags it. Because of being dragged, his in-laws woke up from his sleep then shouted.
"Kabayan is Abah! Don't drag Abah! ” But Si Kabayan ignored him.
He kept dragging the sack home.
"I bring sacks for M. pruriens! Not for humans Abah!"Kabayan said.
Since the incident, his parents-in-law felt very angry. He really hates Kabayan. He did not want to talk to him. Every time he met his son-in-law, he would show his hatred by turning his face. Eventually Kabayan felt uneasy with his in-laws' attitude. He looked for ways to win the hearts of his in-laws.
Kabayan then asked his wife-in-law's real name to Nyi Iteung, his wife. Nyi Iteung reminded her husband that based on adat at the time, knowing the in-law's real name was a taboo.
However Kabayan tried to convince Nyi Iteung that he wanted to pray for his parents-in-law so that he would live long, have good fortune, and be far from distress.
Nyi Iteung finally told her mother-in-law's real name, Ki Nolednad. Nyi Iteung asked her husband not to mention her father-in-law's name to anyone. Kabayan agreed.
Si Kabayan is pretending to be Lubuk's watchman grandfather
After knowing the name of his in-laws, Si Kabayan then looked for palm water that was still thick. He then smeared his entire body with palm water. Next Kabayan put cotton on his entire body. Until his body looks white because it is filled with cotton. He then headed to the bottom where his parents-in-law used to bathe. He climbed a tree and waited for his in-laws to take a bath.When Kabayan's father-in-law was about to take a shower, Si Kabayan then called his father-in-law's name.
"Nolednad! Nolednad! " Kabayan shouted.
His voice was made rather heavy.
"Who called my name?" Her father-in-law was a little scared when he looked at the tree there was a creepy white creature.
"Nolednad, I'm a gatekeeper Grandfather. Listen Nolednad, you must love your son-in-law Si Kabayan. Because he is my favorite grandson. Don't waste it. Take care of him well. If you don't take care of it carefully, believe me, your life will be full of distress. " said Kabayan.
"Fine, good-looking Grandfather. From now on I will take care and love Kabayan with all my heart. I promise Grandfather. " said Kabayan's in-laws in fear.
Since then, Si Kabayan was greatly loved by his in-laws. He made a small house to live with his wife. Likewise, food and clothing are also sufficient. His father-in-law also never scolded him again for fear of Grandpa's watchman.

Si Kabayan Sick
One day Si Kabayan was sick. He suffered from colds and coughs. During a day off Si Kabayan was just curled up in his room. On the previous evening Si Kabayan was wet and cold by the rainfall. Nyi Iteung, his wife, worried look at the condition of Kabayan. Nyi Iteung then took Kabayan go to the health center.Short story, Kabayan ushered by Nyi Iteung go to the health center near his home. The doctor then check Kabayan health. He said that Kabayan just plain sick colds and coughs. "Kang Kabayan just suffer a common cold. I give you two kinds of drugs. After arriving at home from the health center, Kabayan feel confident that the pain will soon recover. The doctor, giving him two kinds of medication to be taken, namely the cold medicine and cough medicine.
At home, Nyi Iteung preparing food and medicine for Kabayan to drink. Kabayan was soon eating and drinking the medicine then sleep break.
In the afternoon when Kabayan waking up. He realized it was time to be taking medication. But Nyi Iteung is not in home. "Nyi Iteung where are you? It's time to take medication. Perhaps Nyi Iteung go to Abah house." Kabayan thought. After eating the food at the table, Kabayan taking drugs that he got from the health center.
Not long after Nyi Iteung come home. She was surprised to see Kabayan in the middle of bounding into the house." Akang Kabayan's still sick, why do jumping jacks? Kang Kabayan, it gets better? More sports huh?" Said Nyi Iteung.
"This is not sport Nyi Iteung." Kabayan said breathlessly. "I am already drunk the medicine but forget to read the writing on the bottle of cough medicine. Written there, shake before drinking. So I am now jumping to let the medicine in the shake." Said Kabayan again. Apparently Kabayan jump so the medicine can be beaten in the stomach.
