Telaga Warna Legend

It is said, in ancient times there were kingdoms in West Java called Kutatanggeuhan. This Kingdoms ruled by a wise king. Residents used to call the king's kingdom as King Suwartalaya. Although successfully ruled his kingdom with justice, but the King has a problem that made him restless. He does not have a child who will inherit his kingdom. Finally, the king decided to be imprisoned in the forest to invoke Almighty God guide.

"My Queen, we've been married for a long time but not being given a child. I would be imprisoned in the forest for some time to seek guidance from the Almighty." said the king to the empress.

"Well My King, I will always pray for the best for you." said Purbamanah, the queen.

After imprisoned for some time, finally the queen was pregnant as a sign that the Almighty hears the King. Kutatanggeuhan people were glad to hear this good news. Later, after nine months pregnant, finally the queen gave birth to a very beautiful girl. They named her, Princess Gilang Rukmini. Of course, the King was very fond of the long-awaited daughter's presence. Kutatanggeuhan people came to the palace and give gifts to welcome their princess.

Over time, the king's daughter was growing up. It has now turned into a very beautiful girl at the age of 17 years. But unfortunately he had a bad temper, which is too spoiled. It is caused by excessive affection from both parents.

To celebrate the 17th birthday of his daughter, the King held a very lively party. The residents came to the palace, bring gifts to be given to the princess. But the wise King actually collect these gifts to be used for the benefit of its people. Of course this makes the princess very angry. But The King wisely said that He will replace it with a better gift.

"Why did father took my prize-gift!" said the princess very angry.

"Be patience my beloved daughter. Dad will use these gifts for the benefit of our people. I promise to replace it with a better gift." said The King gently.

"What better gift it is? Where is it? I want it now!" princess sulk.

"Be patience my beloved. Just wait for a few days." The King said.

The King then contact the best jewelers in the kingdom. He asked him to make the best jewelry ever. A few days later, the jewelry finally created. A very beautiful necklace and colorful. The King immediately give the necklace to his beloved daughter. But apparently the princess did not like the necklace and she threw it to the floor of the courtyard.

"This is a gift necklace, that father promised you, my beloved. Created by the best jewelers in this kingdom with the best materials." The King gives the princess the necklace.

"What is this? I do not like it!" said the princess as she threw the necklace into the palace courtyard.

Seeing her behavior very spoiled, Queen Purbamanah cry. People in the palace was very surprised. The King could only hold his breath, seeing her daughter's behavior.
Suddenly there was a strange occurrence. In the courtyard of the palace appeared a spring. These springs continues to emit water until inundate the entire courtyard. Initially, its only formed a small pond. But eventually it's formed a large lake in the palace. The King then ordered to created a new palace because the old palace has been submerged by water. The lake has colors that are very beautiful. It is said that the color comes from the color of necklace princess who drowned at the bottom of the lake. Society eventually gave the name of the lake as Telaga Warna.

Telaga Warna legend is Indonesian folklore. According to legend, Telaga Warna or Lake Colors, formed as the act of a spoiled princess. The princess did not like her father's necklace gift. She then threw the necklace to the palace courtyard. Later in the courtyard, formed a colorful lake called Telaga warna.
