Banta Beuransah - An Acehnese Folktale

In a kingdom in Aceh, there lived a young man named Banta Beuransah. He was the son of a poor farmer, but he was known for being intelligent, brave, and kind-hearted. Despite living in simplicity, Banta Beuransah always tried to help others and never complained about his condition.

Come play the game! Help Banta Beuransah find the Flower of Life.

Princess Sri Falls Severely Ill

One day, Banta Beuransah heard news that the king's daughter, Princess Sri, was gravely ill. No healer or shaman was able to cure her. The King then announced that whoever could heal his daughter would be given a great reward and could even marry the princess.

Banta Beuransah felt called to try and help. He set off to the palace with firm determination. Upon arriving at the palace, he was greeted by guards who were hesitant seeing his simple attire. However, Banta Beuransah convinced them that he had sincere intentions to help the princess.

The King called Banta Beuransah into his presence. "Are you sure you can heal my daughter, young man?" asked the King full of hope.

"Your Majesty, I cannot promise anything, but I will try with all my ability," Banta Beuransah replied humbly.

The King allowed Banta Beuransah to see Princess Sri. Seeing the princess made Banta Beuransah feel sad. Princess Sri looked very weak and pale. He examined her condition carefully. After a moment, Banta Beuransah realized that the princess's illness was caused by poison administered by someone.

Searching for the Cure in the Forest

Banta Beuransah asked the King for permission to seek a cure in the forest. The King agreed and gave Banta Beuransah three days to find it. With strong resolve, Banta Beuransah set off into the forest.

In the forest, Banta Beuransah met a wise old man. The old man told him that the cure to heal Princess Sri was a rare flower that only grew at the peak of a high mountain. The flower was called the Flower of Life, and it could only be obtained by someone sincere and brave.

Banta Beuransah began the difficult journey toward the mountain peak. He had to cross various obstacles, including deep ravines, dark forests, and wild beasts. However, Banta Beuransah did not give up. He kept walking with strong determination.

After days of walking, Banta Beuransah finally reached the mountain peak. There, he saw the beautiful, glowing Flower of Life. Carefully, he picked the flower and immediately returned to the palace.

Princess Sri Is Cured

Upon arriving at the palace, Banta Beuransah immediately gave the Flower of Life to Princess Sri. After drinking the potion made from the flower, Princess Sri fully recovered. The King and the entire palace felt overjoyed and grateful.

The King kept his promise. He gave a massive reward to Banta Beuransah and granted him permission to marry Princess Sri. However, Banta Beuransah politely declined. "Your Majesty, I only wished to see Princess Sri healthy again. I do not need any reward," said Banta Beuransah.

The King was deeply moved by Banta Beuransah's sincerity. He decided to appoint Banta Beuransah as a royal advisor. From then on, Banta Beuransah and Princess Sri lived happily and peacefully at the palace. They became an example for all the people on the importance of sincerity, bravery, and kindness.
