Long ago, there was a kingdom called Alas Country. The Kingdom of Alas is ruled by a wise king. The king had no children. Even though the king and empress were anxious to have a successor who could hold the reins of the next king of Alas Country. Even though they have not had children for a long time, the king and empress do not stop praying for their wishes to come true.
Once, the empress was sick. The empress' body was a little limp and not feeling well. The king summoned the royal physician to treat the empress. After conducting an examination, the palace physician explained about the empress' illness. It turned out that the empress' complaint was caused because she was pregnant.
"Congratulations to Your Majesty, the empress is pregnant with your child," said the palace healer.
Hearing the palace physician's explanation made the king's eyes sparkle. He did not expect at the same time happy to hear the doctor's narrative that soon he would have a crown prince.
The king rushed to his wife "My Wife, you are pregnant. I am very happy because I will have a crown prince who can carry on my kingdom.”
All the people rejoiced to hear the good news. The king and his empress did not stop giving thanks for the gift of God given to them. They performed a festive greeting to welcome their son.
After nine months, the empress finally gave birth. The child was born into a healthy baby, handsome, clean-skinned, and thick hair. The child was named Prince Amat Mude. Prince Amat Mude is a smart and funny child. He became a prima donna in the kingdom. However, misfortune befell the empress, Prince Amat Mude, and the people of the kingdom. The king fell seriously ill when Prince Amat Mude was 10 years old. The king finally died.
The death of the king gave a very deep wound to the people and the palace family. Problems arise when choosing who will be the successor of the king, considering that Prince Amat Mude is still too early to be appointed as king. Finally the empress chose the king's younger brother as temporary king. Happily, Prince Amat Mude's uncle welcomed this matter. He was finally made king. When Prince Amat Mude has mature, then the reins of government will be given to Prince Amat Mude.
Time after time finally passed, the uncle who was a temporary king finally had an evil desire to rule the kingdom. He did not want his power to be given to Prince Amat Mude when he was an adult. Slowly, he began to get rid of the empress and Prince Amat Mude. The uncle began to pay no attention to the welfare of both of them. Their room was moved to the back of the palace.
Once upon a time, the uncle had a very evil plan. He planned to get the empress and Prince Amat Mude away from the palace. He wanted Prince Amat Mude and his mother to be killed by a tiger in the forest. For that, the uncle gathered several soldiers to take actions beyond the limits in order to perpetuate his power.
"My soldiers, I choose you to take Prince Amat Mude and his mother to go hunting, after that, leave them in the forest!" the uncle ordered.
The soldiers were confused "How can we do such an act Your Majesty, Prince Amat Mude is the crown prince of this kingdom."
"Shut up ! I am the king of the Kingdom of Alas Country. They were deliberately thrown away. If you don't obey my orders, I will behead you!" snapped the uncle.
Finally, the empress and Prince Amat Mude were taken away to hunt and left in the forest. The empress and her son endured the treatment of their own uncle. They can not do much because the power is in the hands of the uncle.
Time after time they finally accepted the harsh reality. They stay alive and live in the forest by gathering food such as fruits. Prince Amat Mude became a mature child and was not spoiled. He still helps his mother to survive.
When Prince Amat Mude was looking for fruit in the forest, he found a river that had clear water. The river has a lot of fish. With his skills, Prince Amat Mude sharpened tree branches until they became sharp and caught the fish in the river. Prince Amat Mude can catch many fish with the twigs he uses. The fish were brought home to be cooked.
“My Mother, I brought these fish to cook. I just caught him in the forest river,” explained Prince Ahmad Mude to his mother.
"Alhamdulillah, this is sustenance from Allah. Let's process it into delicious food," said the mother with incomparable gratitude.
According to folklore from Aceh, the mother finally cleaned the fish one by one. However, when cleaning the fish's stomach, something stuck in the fish's stomach. The empress tried to open the fish's entrails and noticed what she found. How surprised the empress, because she found a grain of gold in the belly of the fish. It turns out that in each of the fish's stomach there is a grain of gold.
"My son, look .... it turns out that in the belly of this fish there is a grain of gold!" exclaimed the mother.
"Wow, we got a lot of gold grain, Mom," said prince Amat Mude in amazement.
The empress finally sold the gold grains and replaced them by building a livable house. They also buy decent clothes, bedding and fine furniture. The empress and her child are very grateful for the abundance of God's gifts to them. Once upon a time, Prince Amat Mude was fishing. They also found the same thing in the belly of the fish. They always found a grain of gold in the fish's belly. They eventually became rich. They can buy large fields, livestock, land, and luxurious houses. Prince Amat Mude and the empress are still not arrogant. He always helps the poor. They are ready to help anyone in need.
Not long after, the news came that there was a generous family who often helped the poor to the king. It turned out that they were the empress and Prince Amat Mude. The king who was the uncle of Prince Amat Mude was surprised. Because, he thought that they had been killed by a tiger. Finally Prince Amat Mude and his mother were invited to the palace.
“Prince Amat Mude, you have become an adult. I know, it's time for you to replace my position as king. But it's not that easy, you have to take an ivory coconut which is on a small island in the middle of the ocean. if you are able to take it and bring it to the palace, then this kingdom has the right to be in your hands!” said the uncle.
"Okay my Uncle, I agree!" said Prince Amat Mude firmly.
"Well, from now on, you are welcome to take the ivory coconut!" said the uncle.
Prince Amat Mude excitedly rushed off to pick the ivory coconut. However, in his uncle's heart, he intended to make Prince Amat Mude not return to the palace. He knew that getting to the island was very difficult. The ocean that surrounds the island is inhabited by 3 beasts known for their ferocity.
On the way to the small island, Prince Amat Mude did not stop praying. Not long after, three terrible beasts appeared before the prince. They take the form of big fish, crocodiles, and dragons.
“Young man, how dare you pass through our territory! What is your name ?!" asked a big fish.
The Prince Amat Mude was surprised because he did not expect to find such a large and vicious animal in the middle of the ocean. Out of breath, he tried to answer their questions.
"A... aa.. I'm Prince Amat Mude..." replied the prince.
"Prince Amat Mude? means that you are the son of the king of the Kingdom of Alas Country?” asked the crocodile.
"That's right, I want to take coconut ivory" replied the prince.
“Ha.. haaa ha.... we are your father's best friend. Your father was very kind to us. He is a wise man, not arrogant, and friends with anyone. You may enter the small island," said the dragon.
Prince Amat Mude was relieved to hear the explanations of the three beasts. It turned out that they were close friends of his own father. The dragon gave a magic ring to Prince Amat Mude, where the magic ring could grant all the wishes of the wearer.
After arriving at the small island, Prince Amat Mude saw a very tall ivory coconut tree. It was impossible for him to climb the tree. But with the help of the magic ring, finally Prince Amat Mude was able to climb the tree with ease. The ivory coconut could be taken by Prince Amat Mude easily.
Prince Amat Mude finally returned to the palace with the ivory coconut. The uncle was surprised to not believe the reality in front of him.
“Prince Amat Mude, since you can take this ivory coconut, I obey my agreement. You have the right to be king in the Kingdom of Alas Country," said the uncle.
Finally Prince Amat Mude became king in the Kingdom of Alas Country. All the people and residents of the palace rejoiced to welcome the kind young king. Prince Amat Mude led the kingdom wisely and wisely. He has no grudge against his own uncle. He still allowed his uncle to stay in the palace. However, the uncle chose to leave the palace and chose to become a commoner.
Prince Amat Mude is a folklore originating from Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. This story tells of a king's crown prince who was banished along with his mother by his own uncle. They were exiled because their father had died, so that the reins of government was held by his uncle. Because he wanted to be a king forever and without being bothered by Prince Amat Mude, the uncle intended to get rid of his own nephew, because Prince Amat Mude was promised to be king when he grew up.
