The Legend of Young Joko Tingkir

Another tale tells of a time when the land was known as Desa Ariwulan. There lived a humble, kind-hearted youth named Joko Tingkir, who cared deeply for his ailing mother.

Disaster struck when a cruel drought choked the land. The earth cracked, crops withered, and the river ran bone-dry. Heartbroken by his village's suffering, Joko Tingkir set off toward the uncharted eastern forests, braving steep valleys and jagged peaks in search of hope.

After days of weary travel, he stumbled upon a hidden oasis. In its center pooled a spring of pure, gleaming water. But as he stepped forward, a magnificent guardian spirit clad in royal robes materialized before him.

"Joko Tingkir," her voice echoed softly. "This water is sacred and cannot be claimed lightly."

Pleading on his knees, Joko Tingkir spoke of his starving village. Touched by his selfless sincerity, the guardian smiled and offered a sacred pact:

"You may take the water, but you must make a vow. Protect this land, never destroy it, and teach your people to live in harmony and kindness. Do this, and the waters shall never run dry."

Joko Tingkir bound himself to the promise and brought the magical water back to his people. Joy returned to the village, crops bloomed, and life flourished once more. True to his word, Joko Tingkir guided his people to respect nature and love one another until the end of his days.
