Damar Wulan is a powerful young man mandraguna. He was instrumental in helping the ruler of the Majapahit Kingdom, Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu. Damar Wulan defeated Menakjingga, a duke in Blambangan who was powerful and cruel but also often abusive. The legend of Damar Wulan is a regional folklore in East Java.
Duke of Menakjingga Attacked Majapahit
There was a Duke of Blambangan with a cruel heart and often acted arbitrarily named Menakjingga. He has a heirloom weapon named Gada Wesi Kuning. Because he felt he had supernatural powers, he often forced his will on others. He will rampage blindly if his desires are not obeyed.
One day the Duke of Menakjingga sent a messenger to the Majapahit Kingdom to convey his wish to marry the Majapahit ruler, Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu. Although he already has many wives, the Duke of Menakjingga still wants to marry Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu. Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu clearly refused the Duke of Menakjingga application. He knows the bad behavior of Duke Menakjingga, an arrogant Duke often acts as he pleases.
When the Duke of Menakjingga messenger expressed his rejection, Menakjingga was very angry. Her bad nature recurs. He immediately ordered Blambangan troops to attack the Majapahit Kingdom. Duke of Menakjingga himself became the direct leader of the attack.
When the Menakjingga troops arrived in the Majapahit Kingdom. Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu immediately mobilized the strength of the Majapahit army to confront the Blambangan troops. The great war broke out inevitable. Menakjingga himself went berserk in battle using his magic club. With one slash of his Yellow Wada Gada, he was able to knock down dozens of Majapahit warriors.
The Majapahit soldiers finally retreated because they were unable to face the tantrum of Duke Duke and his troops. Faced with a big problem, Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu then meditated for Dewata's guidance. The instructions were obtained by the Queen. Dewata whispered to him that the one who was able to defeat the Duke of Menakjingga was a young man named Damar Wulan.
Because the forces of both parties suffered destruction, Duke of Menakjingga ordered his troops to return to Blambangan. Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu himself ordered Patih Logender to look for a young man named Damar Wulan.
Together with selected soldiers, Patih Logender immediately sought out a young man named Damar Wulan. Not long after the young man was found. He lives far outside the city of Majapahit. Patih Logender asked him to go to the Majapahit palace to meet Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu.
Upon arrival at the palace, Damar Wulan immediately knelt before the Queen. "What is it, Gusti Prabu called Servant to the palace?" said Damar Wulan.
"O Damar Wulan. Majapahit was facing an attack from the Duke of Blambangan, Menakjingga. According to Dewata, only you are able to defeat Menak sakingga mandraguna. I command you to eliminate the arrogant Duke. If it works, cut off the head and bring it here as evidence. " said Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu.
"Okay, I will do Gusti Prabu." said Damar Wulan.
Damar Wulan Defeated Menakjingga
Damar Wulan then went to Blambangan alone. Arriving in Blambangan, Damar Wulan then shouted challenging the Duke of Menakjingga duel. The anger of the Duke of Menakjingga could not be heard when an unknown young man challenged him to a duel. He immediately went out to attack Damar Wulan directly using his Yellow Wesi Gada. After going through a fierce battle, Damar Wulan collapsed finally collapsed hit by the Yellow Mace Wesi Menakjingga. Blambangan soldiers immediately imprisoned Damar Wulan in the Blambangan Duchy prison.
While in prison, the two wives of Duke of Menakjingga secretly came to Damar Wulan. They are Dewi Wahita and Dewi Puyengan. They both actually really hate their husbands. They both told Damar Wulan that the disadvantage of Duke Duke of Orange was his Yellow Wada Gada. They promised to help Damar Wulan steal the Gada Wesi Kuning Menakjingga in the hope that Damar Wulan would be able to kill the cruel Duke.
Secretly, Dewi Wahita & Dewi Puyengan finally managed to steal Gada Wesi Kuning's property, Menakjingga. They both immediately handed it over to Damar Wulan. After expressing his gratitude, Damar Wulan immediately got out of prison to again challenge the Duke of Menakjingga.
The Duke of Menakjingga was astonished to see Damar Wulan escaped from prison. He was also surprised to see Damar Wulan carrying his Yellow Gesi Wesi weapon. Do not wait long, Damar Wulan immediately attacked the Duke of Orange using his Yellow Wada Mace. Menakjingga able to avoid the attack, then immediately counterattack. But gradually, Menakjingga looked exhausted, until finally a blow by Mace WesiYellow makes it fall flat. Not long after he died. Remembering Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu's message, Damar Wulan then decapitated Menakjingga's head for evidence. Damar Wulan then returned to Majapahit.
Damar Wulan was attacked by Seta Kite and Kumitir Kite
Without being realized by Damar Wulan, he apparently had been followed by two Patih Logender children named Layang Seta & Layang Kumitir. Knowing the success of Damar Wulan killed Menakjingga, they intend to seize the head of Menakjingga in hopes of getting a gift from Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu. On their way back to Majapahit, they suddenly attacked Damar Wulan. There was a fierce battle of two people against one person. After a long fight, the two of them finally succeeded in seizing the head of Menakjingga from Damar Wulan. Both of them immediately rushed to leave Damar Wulan.
Upon arrival at the Majapahit palace, Layang Seta & Layang Kumitir immediately handed the head of Menakjingga to Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu. They said that they had killed Duke of Menakjingga.
Not long after Damar Wulan came. He told Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu that he had succeeded in beheading Menakjingga, but in the middle of the road Menakjingga's head was seized by Layang Seta & Layang Kumitir.
Ratu Ayu tried to mediate disputes between them. "To prove your confession, who is right, finish it manly. Fight you guys. Whoever wins then he really killed Duke of Menakjingga. " said Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu.
Finally a battle was held between Damar Wulan and the Seta & Layang Kumitir brothers in the palace square. After a long battle, Seta Layang & Layang Kumitir seemed overwhelmed. Damar Wulan this time really showed his magic. Finally the siblings Layang Seta & Layang Kumitir claimed defeat. They also finally wanted to admit that Damar Wulan had killed Duke of Menakjingga. They also begged forgiveness to Ratu Ayu for daring to lie to her.
Damar Wulan Married to Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu
Hearing this confession, Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu immediately ordered his soldiers to arrest and imprison Seta Kite & Kite Kumitir. Queen was very angry and offended because they both dare to lie to him. As for Damar Wulan, Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu gave a gift by inviting Damar Wulan to marry her. Not long afterwards a massive wedding was held between Ratu Ayu Kencana Wungu and Damar Wulan. The Majapahit people happily welcomed this marriage.
