Chapter 1: A Heartbreaking Goodbye
Once upon a time, in a small village nestled in the rolling green hills of England, there lived a cheerful young boy named Jack. He lived in a cozy but very old cottage with his loving mother. Sadly, their lives were terribly poor. Their pantry was completely empty, and they had no money left to buy even a single loaf of bread.
One gloomy morning, they realized they had no choice but to sell their most prized possession to buy wheat: Milky White, Jack’s favorite cow. With a heavy heart, Jack began the long walk to the bustling town market, leading his beloved cow by a worn rope.
Chapter 2: The Mysterious Trade
Long before Jack even reached the market, he bumped into a mysterious old man on a dusty crossroad. The old man had a long, silver beard and carried a tiny, glittering pouch filled with peculiar beans.
Old Man: "My dear boy, would you trade your fine cow for this magical bean? I live in the neighboring village, and my people have barely any food left. Please, help us, my son."Jack: "Alright, sir. Take my cow. I hope she provides enough milk and food to save your village."
Jack’s heart was filled with pity for the old man and the hungry villagers. Believing the old man's promise, he happily traded his cow for the magical bean. But when Jack returned home and showed his mother the tiny trade, she was absolutely furious.
Mother: "Oh, Jack! How could you be so foolish? We needed money for wheat, not a silly little bean!"
With tears of anger in her eyes, Jack’s mother snatched the bean and tossed it right out the kitchen window into the garden.
Chapter 3: The Castle in the Clouds
That very night, a glittering miracle happened. Beneath the twinkling moonlight, the tiny bean took root. It grew and grew, twisting and turning, its giant green vines stretching all the way up into the starry sky. When Jack woke up the next morning, he couldn't believe his eyes.
Fearing his mother would be even angrier if she saw the massive plant blocking their yard, Jack made a brave decision. He grabbed hold of the thick, leafy vines and began to climb. Up, up, up he went, climbing right through the fluffy white clouds until he reached a sparkling land in the sky. There, standing before him, was a magnificent, towering castle.
Giantess: "My goodness! You must be lost, you tiny little child."
Even though she was as tall as a mountain, Jack could tell the giantess had a gentle heart. She scooped him up, brought him inside the grand castle, and offered him a delicious feast. However, as soon as Jack finished his last bite, the giantess looked deeply worried.
Giantess: "You had better leave this place quickly, little one. Soon, my husband will be home. He is a wicked, grumpy giant, and I fear he might just eat you up in one bite!"
Chapter 4: The Great Escape
Just as the kind giantess finished her warning, the ground began to shake. The wicked giant had returned! Jack scrambled as fast as his little legs could carry him and hid right under the enormous dining table.
The giantess quietly signaled for Jack to stay perfectly still and wait patiently. After eating a huge, noisy dinner, the giant finally let out a thunderous yawn and fell fast asleep, his snores rattling the castle walls. Seeing her chance, the kind giantess gently handed Jack a heavy bag filled with shimmering gold coins.
Giantess: "Go home now, little boy, while my husband is sound asleep. Take this bag of gold coins so that you and your dear mother can live happily. But listen to me carefully: once you reach the ground, you must chop down that beanstalk!"Jack: "Thank you for your incredible kindness! I will never forget you!"
Jack hurried to the edge of the clouds and began to slide down the giant green vines. But suddenly, the wicked giant sniffed the air, smelled the scent of a human, and woke up with a mighty roar! He rushed out of the castle and began climbing down the beanstalk, chasing right after Jack.
Chapter 5: A Golden Ending
Unfortunately for the wicked giant, his body was simply too big and heavy! As he stomped his massive feet on the vines, the beanstalk cracked and swayed. Before he could reach the bottom, the great plant snapped, and the grumpy giant tumbled all the way down, splashing right into the deep blue sea, never to be seen again.
Jack landed safely in his garden, clutching the bag of gold. He ran inside and hugged his mother tightly, telling her all about his grand adventure in the clouds. With the magical gold coins given by the kind giantess, Jack and his mother never went hungry again, living happily and comfortably for the rest of their days.
Moral of the Story: Do good to others, and kindness will surely find its way back to you when you are in trouble.
