The Ugly Duckling, English Folklore

Once upon a time, a mother duck was incubating her eggs. The eggs are expected to become the next generation of their parents. Not long after, the eggs began to hatch. They are yellow. However, there is one duckling who has gray fur. Because it has a gray color, the duckling becomes a joke for her siblings, because the duckling looks ugly with its gray fur. The mother duck, who incubated the eggs, was also amazed by her gray haired child.
The Ugly Duckling, English Folklore

Every day, the duck with gray hair is always a source of ridicule for her siblings. The duck is called the ugly. This made the duckling insecure. She doesn't want to live with her siblings and family. She finally runs away from the house to meet a duck who has the same fur as herself, which is gray.

According to English folklore, the gray duckling finally left her family. Every time she met other ducks, she always asked if they had ever met a duck that had the same fur as himself.

"Hi friends, I want to ask, have you ever met a duck with gray hair like me?" asked the ugly duckling.

"I have never met ugly gray ducks like you," they said.

The ducks that she looked up to finally grew saddened by the statements of the ducks she had met. She realized that she was the ugliest duck in the world. She must know herself that she must accept the harsh reality to be avoided by other ducks. The duck is always pensive. She could not contain the grief of her unfortunate fate.

When the duck was pensive, an old woman caught the gray duck, then put it in a cage. The duck struggled a little, because she did not know what kind of treatment the old woman would treat. While in the cage, the ugly duckling meets a hen that is incubating its eggs.

"Hey duck, Where were you?" asked the mother hen.

"I was just caught in a place by the old woman, then I was thrown into this cage," replied the ugly duckling.

"Maybe, you will soon be slaughtered and eaten by the old grandmother," explained the mother hen.

The duck was surprised to hear the explanation from the mother hen, she immediately tried to escape from the cage. She tried to find an opening so that he could get out of the cage. Finally, she was able to escape. She knew that all ducks hated herself. Until finally, the ugly duckling could only stay in the bush.

Winter arrived, the ugly duckling felt hungry and wanted to find food. She tried to get out of the thicket even though she was weak and unhealthy. The duck always feels sad because of being pushed away by other ducks.

With wobbly steps, the duck tried to bring its body to find food. There may be earthworms still out there. However, because her body was already weak, the ugly duckling experienced fainting.

The fainted duck was finally found by a kind farmer. He brought the duck to his house. The farmer and his children care for the ugly duckling with great affection. They are happy with the presence of the gray duck. According to them, the duck has cute fur and her behavior can cheer them up.

When the duck has grown up, the farmer immediately releases it into the wild. To the surprise of the duck, she saw herself form in the reflection of the pool. She has changed. The duck has transformed into a beautiful swan.

"Oh no, my form turns out to be beautiful," said the ugly duckling in disbelief.

In the pool, you can see a group of geese swimming. Their form is the same as that of the ugly duckling. They both look beautiful and charming. The ugly duckling realized that she was actually a beautiful young swan. She flapped her beautiful wings and looked very happy. Finally, she swam in the pool while mingling with the flock of other geese. As it turned out, the beautiful young goose, when it became an egg, was grouped into duck eggs. No wonder it is different from the duck group.

That is the story about The Ugly Duckling, A duck who is born with gray fur, is very different from her sibling who has a yellow coat color. With this fact, the duck experienced insults from his own brother. A folk tale from England. The lesson we can take from this story is not to give up easily.
