In an area called Simalungun, North Sumatra today, stood a kingdom. The kingdom was ruled by a wise king. The king has a beautiful daughter. The king's daughter was famous for her beauty. Not only in the kingdom, the beauty of the princess is also well known across the country. A handsome young king from a neighboring country wants to marry the daughter of the king in the Simalungun area.
The young king finally discussed with his advisors to marry the princess. The king confirmed again whether a princess was very beautiful to his advisors. In the bath, the princess, as usual, sat on a rock that had been specially prepared. She was still washing her legs that were dangling in the pool water even though she had finished bathing. In her reverie, she imagined her happiness when side by side with a handsome young king. The young king who will soon become her husband. Every now and then, she smiled to himself remembering how handsome the young king was.
However, bad weather happened. The gentle wind turned into a hurricane. The tree leaves rubbed against each other in the strong wind. Her maids reminded the princess to return to the palace.
“Your majesty, we should return to the palace. The weather is very bad outside,” said one of the maids.
The princess did not listen to the warnings from the maid. She's still struggling with her daydreams.
Finally, one of the branches from a tree fell right on the tip of her nose. The tree branch was sharp enough to injure the princess's nose.

The maids who saw the incident ran to complain to the king and the queen. They told about the princess who was overgrown with scales like a snake.

"What...? my daughter is covered with scales?" the king was shocked as if in disbelief.
