The origin of Si Losung and Si Pinggan Lakes

Are Datu Dalu and Sangmaima, two brothers who are brave and good at treating various diseases. Both their parents work for a living as medical professionals. They are good at finding medicinal plants in the forest and concocting them into medicine. Even though he lived in poverty, the father wanted his two children to inherit his skills, namely martial arts and concocting drugs. He taught his two children from childhood how to mix medicine and practice martial arts.
The origin of Si Losung and Si Pinggan Lakes

One day, as usual, the parents of Datu Dalu and Sangmaima went to the forest to look for medicinal plants.

“Datu Dalu, Sangmaima! Father and Mother went to the forest to look for medicinal plants. You guys are fine at home. " said the father.

"Fine, mother and father," replied Datu Dalu and Sangmaima.

Datu Dalu and Sangmaima wait for their parents to find medicine in the forest. Usually, both parents will return home in the late afternoon. But that day was different. Until the afternoon, their parents had not come home. Datu and her sister decided to follow her parents.

“Sangmaima, my little brother! Mother's father has not yet returned from the forest. Brother is worried that something will happen to both of them. Let's go to the forest looking for Mom and Dad. " said Datu Dalu.

"Fine Brother," answered Sangmaima.

After walking for a long time in the forest, finally, Datu and her sister managed to find their parents. But unfortunately, both of their parents were killed by a tiger. With feelings of sadness, the two brothers immediately took the bodies of their parents home.

Datu Dalu and his sister, assisted by villagers, immediately buried their parents. Furthermore, they also divided the inheritance from their parents, which was only an heirloom spear. According to the prevailing custom at that time, the heirloom spear must belong to the eldest child, namely Datu Dalu.

Sangmaima Borrowed an Heirloom Spear

Sangmaima was about to hunt pigs in the forest. For this purpose, he borrowed his brother's spear.

“Brother, I want to hunt wild boar. Can I borrow your heirloom spear? " asked Sangmaima.

"Use that spear. But remember, take good care, because it is the legacy of our parents, " replied Datu Dalu.

"Thanks, bro. My brother will take good care of your spear. answered Sangmaima.

Sangmaima went to the forest carrying his brother's spear. After walking for a long time in the forest, finally, Sangmaima saw a wild boar passing in front of him. Immediately he threw his spear at the wild boar. With his dexterity, the spear hit the hull of the wild boar. But the wild boar ran into the bush. Cash Sangmaima felt anxious because his brother's spear was carried away.

"Ouch, how is this. My brother's spear was carried away by the wild boar. I have to quickly catch up. " Sangmaima immediately ran after the wild boar. Sangmaima managed to find the handle of his spear while the eye of his spear was still stuck in the pig's stomach.

"My brother will get angry when he finds out that his spear is missing." Sangmaima then looked for the wild boar, but after walking for a long time in the forest, he did not find it. Feeling tired, Sangmaima decided to go home.

Arriving home, Sangmaima immediately informed him about the removal of the heirloom spear. Sorry, Brother. The eye of the heirloom spear stuck in the side of a wild boar that ran into the forest. You can only carry the handle of this spear. ”

“Brother said, keep the spear well. Now sister, look for the spearhead until you get it. My brother doesn't want to know. " Datu Dalu was furious.

"Okay Brother." Sangmaima immediately went back to the forest to find the spear stuck in the hull of the wild boar.

Sangmaima in search of an heirloom spear

Sangmaima walked into the forest very carefully and thoroughly. He managed to find the wild boar's footprints and tried to trace them until he reached the middle of the forest. There he found a large hole like a cave. With curiosity, Sangmaima entered the hole to the inside. How surprised Sangmaima was when he found that in the hole he found a very magnificent palace.

"Who built the magnificent palace in this place," muttered Sangmaima.

Sangmaima continued to walk further out of curiosity. He saw a beautiful woman lying there and moaning in pain. Sangmaima was surprised to see him, especially in the belly of the beautiful woman who was injured, stuck the eye of her brother's heirloom spear.

"O beautiful woman, who are you?"

"I am a Princess. My father is a king in this palace. "

"Sorry, why your stomach hurt. And again, it is the spearhead that I threw at a wild boar earlier. " Sangmaima said.

"The wild boar that you throw the spear on is me." replied the princess.

I'm sorry, princess. I didn't know that the wild boar was a princess. I know medicine, please allow me to heal the princess. ” Sangmaima said.

"Please, heal this wound on my stomach." said the princess.

Sangmaima then tried to treat the princess's wound with the knowledge of medicine from her father. Not long after, the princess was cured of her illness. Sangmaima then said goodbye to the princess because she had to go home to return the spear of her brother's heirloom.

Party at Datu Dalu and Sangmaima's House

Sangmaima immediately returned the heirloom spear to his brother, Datu Dalu. Of course, Datu Dalu was very happy because his heirloom spear had returned. To celebrate the return of the heirloom spear, Datu Dalu held a large traditional party.

Many people were invited to the party but he did not invite his brother, Sangmaima. Feeling offended at not being invited by his brother, Sangmaima then held a match party that coincided with his brother's party. To enliven the party, Sangmaima held a performance event by bringing in a woman who was decorated in such a way as to resemble an Ernga bird. Many people were interested in seeing the Ernga bird show, as a result, the party at Datu Dalu's house was quiet.

Datu Dalu and Sangmaima fight

Datu Dalu was disappointed to see the fact that the party he was holding was empty of visitors. Knowing that his sister's party was busy because of the Ernga bird show, he borrowed a show from his sister to attract the guests.

"My brother, can I borrow the Ernga bird show?" asked Datu Dalu.

"Yes, Brother, as long as you can take care of the Ernga woman, don't lose her," Sangmaima said.

"Of course little brother, Brother will take care of her." said Datu Dalu.

As soon as the party at his house was over, Sangmaima then took the Ernga woman to her brother's house. Datu Dalu was happy because the party was crowded with people who wanted to watch the Ernga bird show. Sangmaima sneaked into the ceiling of his brother's house quietly waiting for the party to end. In the evening, after the party is over, Sangmaima meets the Ernga bird woman to ask her to leave in the morning so that her brother thinks that she is missing.

"Tomorrow morning you go away quietly so that my brother thinks you are missing," Sangmaima said to the Ernga bird-woman.

"All right sir, tomorrow I will go." said the woman bird Ernga.

The next day, Datu Dalu panicked because the Ernga bird woman was not in his room. “Ouch, how is this, the Ernga bird woman is missing. My brother must be angry when he finds out about this. "

“Brother, where is the Ernga bird-woman. I want to take her home, " said Sangmaima pretending not to know.

"Ouch, forgive Brother, my brother. The Ernga bird woman is missing somewhere. What if you replace it with money? " said Datu Dalu.

"Is the Ernga bird missing? Money cannot be replaced. You have to find it until you can. " Sangmaima said.

The two of them then had a big fight that ended in a fight. Datu Dalu and Sangmaima attack each other using the silat moves their father taught them. For how long they had been fighting, there was no sign of who would win and who would lose. The abilities of the two look balanced.

The origin of Si Losung and Si Pinggan Lakes

Datu Dalu then took a mortar and threw it with all his might towards his sister. Sangmaima avoided, so the mortar floated and then fell in the village of Sangmaima. A miracle happened, the place where the mortar fell turned into a lake.

Not wanting to be outdone by his brother, Sangmaima took the plate and he threw it with all his might towards his brother. Datu Dalu managed to escape, so the plate floated far away and fell in Datu Dalu's village. A miracle happened, the place where the plate fell turned into a lake as well.

The community then named the lake in Sangmaima village the name Si Losung Lake. While the lake in Datu Dalu village is named Lake Si Pinggan. That is the folklore of North Sumatra, precisely in North Tapanuli Regency, regarding the origin of Lake Si Losung and Lake Si Pinggan.

Si Losung Lake and Si Pinggan Lake are located in North Sumatra Province. There is a folk tale about the origin of the Si Losung and Si Pinggan lakes which is said to have been caused by a fight between two brothers, Datu Dalu and his younger brother Sangmaima.
