Tanggungan Village People May Not Eat Tageh Fish

During the war against the Dutch Company, Sura Alap Alap was given the role of leader of Rajekwesi in the east. The war between the indigenous warriors and the Company was unbalanced because of the inadequate weaponry of the native forces. Fearing the loss of lives, Sura Alap Alap then ordered all his troops, who were residents of the village, to leave the village.

After the death of Sura Alap Alap and his troops, miraculously, the village was transformed into a lake filled with Tageh fish. When the Company troops came to the village to fight the Sura Alap Alap troops, they were confused because they did not find any residents. The Company also could not continue the journey because it was blocked by the lake. Finally the Company troops left the lake.

After the Company troops left, the lake dried up and returned to its original village. Feeling safe, Sura Alap Alap and his troops returned to their village. Then Sura Alap Alap made a grave of approximately 3 meters. The tomb is located east of the village Tanggungan.
Since then, Sura Alap Alap gave warnings to all villagers not to eat Tageh fish. "Don't let my grandchildren and villagers here eat Tageh fish. Because the Tageh fish had contributed to rescuing the entire village during the war with the Company. If there is a violation, then he will get disastrous. " said Sura. That's the folklore from East Java about the cause of the ban on Tanggungan villagers from eating Tageh fish.
