Ahmad And Muhammad

According to folklore, once upon a time in North Sumatra, in ancient times lived a husband and wife with two sons. The eldest is named Ahmad, while his younger brother is named Muhammad. Ahmad and Muhammad are known as kind children. Both are obedient to their parents diligently helping the work of their parents. They are also known to diligently go to the mosque to pray and recite the Koran.

It is said that based on the view of the people of North Sumatra at that time, there was a very special animal, the merbuk. According to public belief, whoever eats a merbuk's head will become a king. While the person who eats merbuk hearts will become a minister.

Finding a Merbuk Bird

One day, after helping his parents work in the fields, Ahmad & Muhammad found a bird crib. They then caught the merbuk bird. Although they both know the special features of merbuk, Ahmad & Muhammad caught it for them to maintain. It did not occur to them to eat the merbuk.

Ahmad & Muhammad then brought the merbuk to his house. They both treat the merbuk with love. They routinely feed him. However, Ahmad & Muhammad let the merbuk fly freely around their homes. They did not put it in a cage. If you go to the fields to help his parents, Ahmad & Muhammad will bring along the cribs. Gradually, the merbuk became docile also according to the two of them. He usually flies freely outside the house, but if he sees Ahmad or Muhammad, he will land near them.

Ahmad's and Muhammad's Parents Killed the Bird

Both Ahmad & Muhammad's parents learned about their child's pet peacuk. Their father really wanted to be king or at least become a minister. His wish can be fulfilled if he eats the merbuk. He and his wife then consulted to find a way to be able to slaughter their child's pet merbuk.

The next day, as usual, when Ahmad & Muhammad left the house, the cribs landed near them. Ahmad & Muhammad then wanted to invite the merbuk birds to the fields to accompany them to work. But the Mother forbade it on the grounds of fearing the tame merbuk bird would be taken by people. Ahmad & Muhammad followed their mother's advice. They then went to the fields leaving the cribs in their homes.

After her children go to the fields, Mother does not waste the opportunity. He immediately caught a bird crib to slaughter. After successfully slaughtering, he immediately roasted the poor merbuk bird.

When returning home, Ahmad & Muhammad were very surprised to see the fact that their beloved merbuk birds had died. They were sad to find their beloved merbuk birds had been roasted. "Your beloved coughing bird was pounced on by a cat. So mom quickly picks it up and then baking it. " their mother said reasoned.

Eating the Bird

Feeling hungry after returning from the fields, Ahmad & Muhammad decided to eat the merbuk. Ahmad ate the head of a merbuk, while Muhammad ate the heart of a merbuk. Mother was in the kitchen preparing lunch, so she did not know if her two children ate coughs.

Not long after, the father returned from the fields. He asked his wife about the merbuk that he wanted to eat. His wife said that the merbuk had been eaten by their two children. The father's anger was inevitable that his two children had eaten the coughing bird. After scolding his two children he then kicked them out of the house. Ahmad & Muhammad who were still surprised were forced to leave their parents' house without carrying any provisions.

Evicted from home

With feelings of sadness, Ahmad and Muhammad went indefinitely. If their stomachs feel hungry, they will look for fruits or tubers for their food. When it was late evening, the two arrived at the edge of the forest. Feeling very tired, they decided to rest in a big tree. Ahmad told his younger brother, Muhammad, to sleep in the tree. While he himself slept under a tree, just in case.

Once upon a time, the area was the territory of a kingdom led by an elderly king. The king does not have a son. According to customs, his daughters are not allowed to replace him as king. The king finally decided to make a contest. Whoever is worshiped by his pet white elephant, he will become a king in his place.

The king's pet white elephant was then released, followed by the Prime Minister and the soldiers. The elephant then walked up to afinally arrived at a large tree on the edge of the forest where Ahmad & Muhammad were sleeping. When he was close to Ahmad who was sleeping, the elephant suddenly lay down to prostrate.

The Prime Minister and the soldiers were surprised to see a prostrate white elephant near a sleeping youth. "We have found a successor to the king! Let's bring this young man to the palace! " the Prime Minister said to the soldiers. The palace soldiers then lifted Ahmad who was sleeping soundly onto the back of the elephant, then returned to the royal palace.

Ahmad Taken to the Royal Palace

In the royal palace, Ahmad awakens from his sleep. He was very surprised to find himself in a magnificent palace. The King then tells him that the Prime Minister took him to the royal palace while he slept in the forest. The King also told him that Ahmad was the future king to replace him who was already elderly. Ahmad was surprised not to play with this reality. He then lived in the kingdom. He also remembered and was worried about the fate of his younger brother, Muhammad.

While in the forest, Muhammad felt confused by his brother's whereabouts. He suspected that his brother had been killed by wild animals. He cried under a tree because he was very sad to lose his brother whom he loved so much. After all this time crying, Muhammad then decided to look for his brother. He hopes his brother is still alive. He will continue to look for it until he found it. Muhammad then went indefinitely in search of his brother's whereabouts

One day, Muhammad saw two large eagles fighting over a wooden branch. Muhammad thought that the branch was certainly not just any branch. "This must be a magical wooden branch. I have to take it. " said Muhammad. Coincidentally, the branch fell off near Muhammad. He then took it and said, "O magic wood branch, please take me to my brother."

Miracles happen. Muhammad's body then floated in the air. Not long after his body fell in the garden of the royal palace. The princess who was in the park felt frightened. The king's daughter cried out in terror as she ran into the palace. The royal soldiers immediately arrested Muhammad for punishment for entering the palace without permission. He was thrown into prison while awaiting trial by the king.

Next, the soldiers took Muhammad from prison to be tried in court by the king. At that time Ahmad, Muhammad's older brother also witnessed the court proceedings. Ahmad has not recognized his younger brother because he hasn't seen him in a long time.

The king asked Muhammad to explain his reason for entering the royal palace without permission. Muhammad then told his story that he was looking for his brother who was lost in the forest. He also said he could enter the royal palace thanks to a magical branch.

Ahmad Becomes King While Muhammad Becomes Prime Minister

Ahmad was shocked to hear the story of the youth before him. Ahmad then explained to the king that the young man who was on trial was his missing brother. Hearing Ahmad's explanation, the king finally freed Muhammad from punishment. Ahmad and Muhammad then hugged while crying to let go of longing. They are happy to be able to meet again after being separated for so long. Muhammad then lived in the royal palace with his beloved brother.

Not long after the King married his eldest daughter to Ahmad. While her youngest daughter was married to Muhammad. The second wedding party was held on a large scale by inviting the kings, princes, nobles and the people at large. A few days after the wedding, the King then announced that he resigned as king. The King gave up power to Ahmad. The King also appointed Muhammad as Prime Minister.

From that moment on, Ahmad, assisted by the Prime Minister, Muhammad, ruled the kingdom fairly wisely. They love their people as much as they love their king.
