Chapter 1: The Kingdom of Peremban Panas
Once upon a time, in the faraway land of Bengkulu, there was a kingdom called Peremban Panas, the Hot Kingdom. It was ruled by a king named Raja Kramo Kratu Agung. His queen was a gentle lady named Princess Rimas Bangesu.
Chapter 2: A Sad Decision
Still, the king was not completely happy. He and Princess Rimas Bangesu had been married for six long years, but they had no child.
One evening, the king sat alone on the palace balcony and sighed.
King Kramo Kratu Agung: "Six years have passed, and still there is no little prince or princess. Who will rule Peremban Panas when I am gone?"
His worry soon reached the royal relatives. They gathered in the great hall to talk about it.
Royal Relative: "Your Majesty, the kingdom needs an heir. You must marry another woman."
King Kramo Kratu Agung: "But what about my queen?"
Royal Relative: "Princess Rimas Bangesu must leave the palace. She must live in the middle of the jungle."
The princess was heartbroken when she heard this.
Princess Rimas Bangesu: "Your Majesty, must I really go?"
The king's heart was heavy, but he did not dare go against his advisors. So the princess left the palace with tears in her eyes.
Chapter 3: The Birth of Bujang Awang Tabuang
Deep in the jungle, the royal servants built a small hut for the princess. She was not alone, though. A big, kind tiger and a pair of playful monkeys came to keep her company.
Princess Rimas Bangesu: "Thank you, my friends. You are so kind to stay with me."
The princess had a secret. When she was sent away, she was already expecting a baby! The king did not know it, and neither did the royal relatives.
Months later, a healthy and handsome baby boy was born in the little hut. The princess held him close and smiled.
Princess Rimas Bangesu: "My darling son, I will name you Bujang Awang Tabuang."
The tiger purred softly, and the monkeys clapped their little hands with joy.
Chapter 4: A Secret About His Father
Under his mother's loving care, and with the tiger and monkeys as his best friends, Bujang Awang Tabuang grew up. By the time he was seventeen, he was tall, handsome, brave, and very strong.
Sometimes Bujang looked up at the sky and wondered about his father.
Bujang Awang Tabuang: "Mother, where is my father?"
His mother did not want to tell him the sad truth, so she gave the same answer every time.
Princess Rimas Bangesu: "Your father is a god, my son."
But Bujang was no longer a little boy. One day, the princess knew it was time to tell him everything.
Princess Rimas Bangesu: "Bujang, my son, I must tell you something. Your father is King Kramo Kratu Agung of Peremban Panas."Bujang Awang Tabuang: "A king? Then why are we living in the jungle?"
His mother told him the whole story of how she had been sent away from the palace. Bujang listened carefully.
Bujang Awang Tabuang: "Mother, please let me go to the palace. I want to find my father."
The princess felt sad, because she did not want her son to leave. But she nodded.
Princess Rimas Bangesu: "You may go, my son. But please be careful. Avoid fighting on your journey. I will pray for you every day."Bujang Awang Tabuang: "I promise, Mother."
Chapter 5: The Long Journey
The next morning, Bujang said goodbye to his mother, the tiger, and the monkeys. Then he set off alone.
He walked for days and days, through the forest and across the fields. Whenever he met a villager, he asked politely.
Bujang Awang Tabuang: "Excuse me, which way is the palace of Peremban Panas?"Villager: "Keep going, young man. You are almost there!"
At last, Bujang saw the tall, shining palace in front of him.
Chapter 6: Trouble at the Palace Gate
Bujang was so excited that he walked straight through the gate. The palace guards hurried to stop him.
Bujang Awang Tabuang: "I want to see King Kramo Kratu Agung."Palace Guard: "You cannot go in just like that! The king must not be disturbed."Bujang Awang Tabuang: "Please, it is very important."Palace Guard: "The king is busy preparing to marry the Silver Hair Princess of Pinang Jarang. Now go away!"
When the guards tried to push him out, Bujang remembered his mother's words. But he was tired and upset, and he wanted so much to see his father. A fight began! Bujang was so strong that the guards could not beat him. More soldiers rushed in, but Bujang defeated them all. The frightened soldiers ran away, and some of them hurried to tell the royal advisor, Raden Tumenggung.
Chapter 7: The Snoring That Shook the Palace
After the fight, Bujang felt very sleepy. He lay down under a big tree in the palace square and fell fast asleep.
Zzzzz... ZZZZZ... ZZZZZZ!
His snoring was so loud that the whole palace shook like an earthquake! Cups rattled, windows trembled, and everyone ran around in a panic.
Raden Tumenggung marched out to find who was causing all the trouble. There he saw Bujang, snoring away under the tree.
Raden Tumenggung: "Hey, you! Wake up! How dare you cause trouble in the royal palace!"
Bujang woke up and rubbed his eyes. He ignored Raden Tumenggung and walked toward the palace.
Bujang Awang Tabuang: "I must find King Kramo Kratu Agung."Raden Tumenggung: "How rude! Stop right there!"
Raden Tumenggung attacked, but Bujang was too strong for him. In no time, the royal advisor was beaten.
Chapter 8: The Duel of Father and Son
Bujang strode into the palace, and the royal warriors could not stop him. At last, King Kramo Kratu Agung came out to face the young troublemaker himself.
King Kramo Kratu Agung: "Who dares to make trouble in my palace?"
They fought, and they fought. They fought for a whole day and a whole night! The king did not know that this strong young man was his own son. And Bujang did not know that the brave warrior in front of him was his own father.
At last, the king was tired. He raised his hand.
King Kramo Kratu Agung: "Enough, young man! It seems our battle will never end. I am King Kramo Kratu Agung. Who are you, and what do you want?"
Chapter 9: Father and Son Meet
Bujang's eyes grew wide. He could not believe it! The man he had been fighting was the father he had been looking for.
Bujang Awang Tabuang: "Forgive me, Your Majesty. My name is Bujang Awang Tabuang. I am the son of Princess Rimas Bangesu. When my mother was sent to the jungle, she was carrying me."
The king stood still for a moment.
King Kramo Kratu Agung: "You are... my son?"Bujang Awang Tabuang: "Yes, Father. My mother is still waiting for you in the jungle."
The king hugged Bujang tightly, and tears rolled down his cheeks.
King Kramo Kratu Agung: "My dear son, forgive me. I did not know your mother was expecting a child when she left. I was so wrong to send her away."
Then he made an important decision. He called off his wedding to the Silver Hair Princess.
Chapter 10: The Princess Comes Home
The very next day, the king, Bujang, and the royal soldiers journeyed to the jungle. When the king saw Princess Rimas Bangesu, he hurried to her side.
King Kramo Kratu Agung: "My dear wife, please forgive me."Princess Rimas Bangesu: "Your Majesty, you have come at last."
They hugged and cried happy tears. The king helped her into a beautiful royal carriage, and they rode back to the palace of Peremban Panas.
Chapter 11: Happily Ever After
From that day on, Bujang Awang Tabuang lived happily with his father and mother in the palace. The people of Peremban Panas cheered for their queen's return and for their brave young prince.
But Bujang never forgot his old friends, the tiger and the monkeys. He often went back to the jungle to visit them.
Bujang Awang Tabuang: "Hello, my friends! I missed you!"
The tiger purred, and the monkeys jumped up and down. Then Bujang sat with them, chatting and laughing, just like when he was a little boy.
