Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih

It is said that long ago in a village, there lived a girl named Bawang Putih who lived with her father. Ibu Bawang Putih has passed away after suffering a serious illness. Not far from their house, lived a widow who had a daughter named Bawang Merah.

Once upon a time, after Bawang Putih's mother died, Bawang Merah and her mother often visited Bawang Putih's house. Because they often meet, Bawang Putih's father and Bawang Merah's mother fall in love with each other. They both finally decided to get married. They then live in one house and live happily as a family.

Unfortunately for Bawang Putih, this happiness did not last long. His father died due to illness. After his father died, the attitude of Bawang Merah & his mother changed drastically. They both always tell Bawang Putih to do housework. Every day Bawang Putih is tasked with doing all the household chores while Bawang Merah and her mother work just lazily.

One day, Bawang Putih was washing clothes in a river near the house. Because she washed too many clothes, Bawang Putih did not realize that a garment belonging to her stepmother was washed away by the river current. When he got home, the mother scolded his negligence. He asked Bawang Putih to find her clothes until they found her.

"You are stupid Bawang Putih! You are looking for my clothes there! Don't come home if you can't find it!" the mother scolded him.

"Sorry mom, I didn't know if any clothes were washed away. I'll look for them right away." said Bawang Putih.

Bawang Putih Meets Old Grandma

Bawang Putih immediately went down the river to find clothes for her stepmother. It was already late afternoon, looking everywhere he looked but could not find his stepmother's clothes. Arriving at a place, Bawang Putih saw an old hut inhabited by an old grandmother. The grandmother was seen collecting firewood. Bawang Putih Gets Pumpkin

For one week Bawang Putih stayed at grandmother's house while helping with housework. Starting from washing clothes, cleaning the house, cooking to finding firewood. Bawang Putih do it sincerely.
