Once upon a time, in Central Java Province, Mbok Sirni had long desired a child. However, until her husband died, she was not blessed with a child. Although now Mbok Sirni is old, her desire to have a child is not fading. He hopes that there is someone who is kind enough to give him a child to care for him.
One day, a giant came to visit Mbok Sirni. Of course Mbok Sirni was very scared. He asked the giant not to eat it. "Giant master, don't eat me. My thin body is old again, it tastes bitter when eaten. " said Mbok Sirni, trembling.
"Who wants to eat you, old lady. I came here to give cucumber seeds. Plant these cucumber seeds. You will get what you have long wanted. As an expression of your gratitude later for my gift, you must halve the results with me. " said the giant.
Despite feeling confused by the giving of giants, but Mbok Sirni agreed to halve the results. He then planted cucumber seeds in his yard. Only a few days later the seedlings had grown into cucumber trees also bearing fruit. Among the cucumbers, there is one large-sized golden cucumber.
A Baby in a golden cucumber
Mbok Sirni then split the very large cucumber. What a surprise Mbok Sirni found out that in the cucumber there was a very beautiful baby girl. She immediately took it, bathed it then gave her clothes. Mbok Sirni is very happy because her wish to have a baby has been fulfilled. She gave it the name Timun Mas.
Time passed, Timun Mas has grown into a diligent girl who likes to help and love her mother. Mbok Sirni took good care of her also very fond of her. Once Mbok Sirni went to the forest to look for firewood. In the middle of the forest, he met a giant who had given him cucumber seeds. The Giant asked Mbok Sirni to keep his promise to halve the results of the cucumber seedlings he gave. Mbok Sirni looks scared. Mbok Sirni does not feel willing to have to hand over Timun Mas to the giant. He immediately asked the giant for time. The giant agreed. The giant gave Mbok Sirni time to hand over Timun Mas after he was 17 years old.

Ask for the Assistance of the Hermit
Mbok Sirni immediately returned to his home. He still has a few years to think about how to deal with giants. Until one night, Mbok Sirni had a very strange dream, where he got an order to meet a powerful hermit on Mount Gundul. The next day he immediately went to Mount Gundul to meet the powerful hermit. After struggling to climb Mount Gundul, Mbok Sirni finally managed to meet the magic hermit.
In the magic hermit, Mbok Sirni told the problem. Mbok Sirni also told her dream that she had to meet a powerful hermit to ask for help. The powerful hermit is willing to help Mbok Sirni. He gave Mbok Sirni, a cucumber seed, a needle, a grain of salt, and a piece of shrimp paste. "Give all these things to your child. Tell him, if he is chased by a giant, then throw these objects in sequence, surely he will survive the pursuit of the giant. " magic hermit said to Mbok Sirni. Mbok Sirni thanked, then immediately excused myself. Arriving at the house, Mbok Sirni then handed over items giving magic hermits to Timun Mas. Mbok Sirni told Timun Mas, to throw it in a sequence if one day the giant came.
The Giant Comes Wanting to Take the Gold Cucumber
A few years later, Timun Mas has reached the age of 17 years. Mbok Sirni was worried because she remembered her promise to the giant to hand over Timun Mas. He is not willing Timun Mas which he cared for since he was eaten by a giant.
One sunny day, Mbok Sirni and Timun Emas were working in the garden. Suddenly there was a roar of footsteps. Mbok Sirni realized that the giant had come to take Timun Mas. Mbok Sirni immediately asked Timun Emas to escape. Mbok Sirni reminded her to throw away items giving magic hermits. "Hurry and run, kid! Giants come here to eat you. Don't forget to throw away the items given by magic hermits. " said Mbok Sirni.
"Fine Mbok, I'll run away now." Mas Timun said as he ran towards the forest.
Outside the house, the giant screamed calling Mbok Sirni. "Hey old granny! Where is your promise? Hand over your child now. I can't wait to eat it. " the giant shouted at Mbok Sirni.
Mbok Sirni immediately left the house and then said, "O giant, my son has gone to the forest to where you live. He was ready tobe your meal. "
Giant eyes immediately looked into the forest around Mbok Sirni's house. He saw Timun Mas running fast. Not waiting for long, the giant immediately chased Timun Mas. Despite their distance, the giant was able to approach Timun Mas because its footsteps were very wide.
Knowing that the giant was close to him, Timun Emas immediately threw a cucumber seed at the giant. A strange event occurred. The seeds of the cucumber immediately grow into a very thick cucumber tree again bearing many fruits. The giant then stretched out his hand to pick up the fruits of the cucumber and then ate it until it was finished. But the giant stomach still felt hungry, he returned to pursue Timun Mas.
Timun Emas then throws a needle towards the giant. Something strange happened again. The needle turned into a thick dense bamboo forest. The giant tried to pass the bamboo forest. His leg was injured because it was stuck in sharp bamboo sticks. But the giant did not care about the wound. He continued to pursue Timun Mas.
Timun Emas then throws a grain of salt at the giant. Soon the salt turned into a vast ocean. The giant was forced to swim through the ocean. After successfully crossing the ocean, his breath was panting from exhaustion.
Giants Finally Die in the Ground
Seeing the giant managed to cross the ocean, Timun Emas immediately threw a piece of shrimp paste towards the giant. A piece of shrimp paste then turned into a very large suction mud. Giant sucked by the mud. He tried hard to get out of the deadly mud but what energy is exhausted when crossing the ocean. The giant finally sank into the suction mud until he was unable to come out again.
Timun Emas immediately sat down because he was very tired. He was grateful that the giant could finally be paralyzed. After his energy was collected again, Timun Emas returned to his house to meet Mbok Sirni, whom he considered his biological mother.
Mbok Sirni is waiting at home very worried. He was very worried that the giant managed to eat his favorite daughter. However, how happy Mbok Sirni saw the return of Timun Emas. They immediately embraced while crying happily. Finally Mbok Sirni was able to live happily with his daughter, Timun Emas, without interference from the giant.
