One morning Si Kabayan felt his stomach was hungry, but he felt bored with his wife's Iteung cooking. The Kabayan wants to eat delicious. Because he had not eaten for a long time, he worried that he would forget how it felt to eat good food. Then his crazy idea emerged to enjoy good food at his in-laws' house.
In the village of Malakeudeu (West Java) where he lived, a haji was considered a very respectable person, because besides being considered a pious person, a haji was also considered a rich man who could afford the cost of a boat to the holy land for pilgrimage. Si Kabayan knew full well that his mother-in-law really respected a pilgrimage. If a pilgrim visits his father-in-law's house, then his father-in-law will serve delicious food to entertain his guest of honor.
Without wasting any more time the Kabayan immediately wore a robe and turban on his head, then with the style of a pilgrimage, he headed to his in-laws' house. After knocking on the door and saying hello, the door of his in-law's house opened. It turns out his own in-laws opened the door.
"Alhamdulillah, Pak Haji, come on in, Ouch, how happy Mr Haji is to visit our humble abode." Then he told his wife to quickly provide delicious food to entertain the honored guest.
Si Kabayan's eyes sparkled to see his mother-in-law providing chicken meat and other delicious food. Si Kabayan hungrily ate whatever was on his in-law's dining table. After his stomach full, Si Kabayan immediately excused himself to go home. Back at home with a full stomach Si Kabayan quickly hides his robe and turban. While his mother-in-law feels something strange about his guest. He felt unfamiliar with Pak Haji, who was just a herbalist. And his in-laws felt very familiar with the gestures of his guests. Finally his in-laws realized that Si Kabayan had deceived him by disguising himself as a pilgrimage.
Feeling furious and irritated by his son-in-law's behavior, he wanted to reply. The next day he disguised himself as a pilgrim too. Wearing a robe and turban on his head, he headed toward Si Kabayan's house. After greeting and tapping on the door, Si Kabayan then opened the door. Stared at Si Kabayan's eyes, he immediately recognized his pug nose and tooth-in-law. He also has the guile to work on his in-laws.
"Iteung! Iteung! Here is a great guest, Mr. Hajj who is still a close relative of you. We must respect him. Hurry and cook delicious food. Cut the goat!" Kabayan shouted at his wife.
"What about Kang Kabayan? How about we don't have a goat?" said Nyi Iteung.
"Hus! Don't yell like that, Iteung. Later it sounds like the neighbors are just embarrassed. It's just to let you slaughter your father's goat tied to a guava tree behind our house!" said Si Kabayan.
Hearing that the Kabayan was going to slash his goat, the fake pilgrim immediately shouted, "No, Iteung! No! That is your only father's goat."
"Eh ... so is this Abah? Why disguised as a pilgrim or Abah? " shouted Nyi Iteung.
Without answering, Kabayan's in-laws immediately went out and ran back to his home. He felt very irritated by his son-in-law's behavior and swore he would someday reply.
