Chapter 1: Two Inseparable Friends
Once upon a time, nestled deep within the emerald rainforests of West Kalimantan, there lay a crystal-clear, shimmering lake. In this enchanted haven lived two creature companions who shared a bond stronger than the ancient roots of the jungle trees: a cheerful, bushy-tailed Squirrel and a gentle, wise Cork Fish (the mighty Snakehead Fish of the calm waters).
Whether the sun was painting the sky in shades of golden amber or gentle raindrops were dancing upon the lily pads, the two friends were always together. If Squirrel ever dropped his favorite sweet berries into the deep waters, Cork Fish would gracefully dive to fetch them. And if Cork Fish wished to taste the sweet, ripe figs overhanging the water's edge, Squirrel would happily scamper up the branches to toss them down. They vowed to always look out for one another, no matter how grand or terrible the trouble might be.
Chapter 2: A Cloud of Sorrow
One bright and sunlit morning, Squirrel scampered eagerly down from his cozy tree hollow, his tail flicking with excitement. He leapt from branch to branch, calling out toward the shimmering shore where they always met to greet the dawn.
Squirrel: "Good morning, my dear friend! Wake up, look at the beautiful sunshine! The forest is alive today!"
But no cheerful splash answered his call. The surface of the lake remained as still as a silver mirror. Feeling a lump of worry in his chest, Squirrel scurried along the riverbank until he reached the quiet, shaded cove where Cork Fish made his home beneath the roots of an old mangrove.
There lay Cork Fish, pale, thin, and motionless. His usually shiny scales looked dull, and his gentle eyes were heavy with weakness.
Squirrel: "Oh no! My dear Cork Fish, what has happened to you? You look so terribly frail!"Cork Fish: "Ah, my sweet friend... A heavy illness has come upon me. I have not had the strength to eat a single bite for many days, and my appetite has completely faded away."Squirrel: "You must eat something, my friend! Please, let me fetch you the softest water lilies, or the sweetest dropped mangoes! What can I bring you to restore your strength?"Cork Fish: "Alas, dear Squirrel, normal food cannot heal what ails me. There is only one remedy in all the vast waters that can cure this magical sickness... but it is impossible to get."Squirrel: "Nothing is impossible when it comes to saving my best friend! Tell me, what is this remedy?"Cork Fish: "It is the liver of the mighty Yu Fish, the fierce giant shark that guards the deep, dark depths of the lake. But he is far too dangerous, my friend. His teeth are like sharp daggers, and his fury knows no bounds. You must not risk your life for me."Squirrel: "Do not lose hope, Cork Fish! You are my best friend in the whole wide world. I will find a way to retrieve Yu Fish's liver and bring you back to health, no matter how fierce he may be!"
Chapter 3: The Clever Plan
Squirrel sat high atop a swaying coconut palm tree, looking out over the endless blue lake. His small heart pounded with fear as he watched the dark, shadowy silhouette of Yu Fish patrolling the deep waters below. Yu Fish was massive, with jagged fins and eyes that glinted with malice.
"How can a small creature like me defeat such a giant monster?" thought Squirrel. "Strength will not work... so I must use my wits!"
With a spark of cleverness in his eyes, Squirrel picked a large, sturdy green coconut. Using his sharp front teeth, he carefully gnawed a small hole into the top of the shell. He drank all the sweet coconut water inside until the shell was completely hollow and light.
Squirrel: "If I try to swim, Yu Fish will snap me in two before I can even blink. But if I hide inside this floating coconut shell, he will swallow it whole without noticing me!"
Taking a deep, brave breath, Squirrel squeezed his small body into the hollow coconut, holding tight to a tiny stick to keep himself steady. Then, with a loud SPLASH!, the coconut tumbled from the high palm tree and plunged right into the cool waters of the lake.
Chapter 4: Into the Beast's Belly
The hollow coconut bobbed up and down on the gentle ripples of the lake. Down below, the sharp-eyed Yu Fish caught sight of the round fruit drifting above.
Yu Fish: "Aha! What a tasty little treat floating in my domain!"
With a terrifying surge of power, Yu Fish burst through the water, opened his giant jaws filled with rows of razor-sharp teeth, and swallowed the coconut in a single, mighty gulp!
CHOMP!
Inside the dark coconut shell, Squirrel held his breath and clung on for dear life as the heavy teeth slammed shut all around him. Thanks to the tough wooden shell, the deadly fangs could not touch him. Soon, the coconut slid down the long, dark throat and settled deep inside Yu Fish's giant belly.
Squirrel: "Phew! That was terrifying... but the first part of my plan worked! Now, it is time to save my dear friend!"
Carefully, Squirrel poked his small head out of the hole in the coconut. Reaching into the darkness of the giant fish's stomach, he found Yu Fish's liver and bit into it with all his might!
Yu Fish: "ROAR! Ouch! My stomach! What is this terrible, agonizing pain inside me?!"
Yu Fish thrashed wildly through the water, leaping into the air and crashing back down, twisting and turning in agony. But Squirrel held on tight, biting and pulling with unwavering determination for his sick friend.
Higher and higher Yu Fish thrashed until, exhausted and overwhelmed by the sharp pain, the giant fish blindly leaped toward the shore and crashed heavily onto the sandy bank. With one final shudder, the mighty beast lay completely still.
Chapter 5: The Gift of Healing
Once the roaring sound of Yu Fish's breath faded into complete silence, Squirrel knew it was safe. He carefully chewed his way out of the monster's belly, carrying the precious liver proudly in his paws. Though covered in sand and wet from head to tail, his heart was singing with joy.
He ran as fast as his little legs could carry him, darting across the forest floor until he reached the calm cove of his dear companion.
Squirrel: "Wake up, Cork Fish! Wake up! Look what I have brought for you!"
Cork Fish opened his heavy eyes in utter disbelief as he saw his tiny friend holding the very remedy he needed.
Cork Fish: "Is... is this truly the liver of the fierce Yu Fish? Oh, brave Squirrel! How did you ever manage to overcome such a terrifying giant?"Squirrel: "With a little cleverness, a hollow coconut, and a whole lot of love for my best friend! Quick now, eat this so you can regain your strength!"
Cork Fish slowly ate the magical liver. Almost instantly, a warm glow swept over his dull scales. His eyes brightened, his energy returned, and with a joyous flip of his tail, he splashed happily into the air!
Cork Fish: "I am healed! I feel as strong as the morning sun! Oh, my wonderful Squirrel, you risked your life to save mine. I can never thank you enough for your courage and true devotion!"Squirrel: "That is what best friends are for! As long as we stand by each other, there is no trouble in this grand forest we cannot overcome!"
And so, from that magical day onward, Squirrel and Cork Fish lived happily and peacefully by the shores of West Kalimantan, remaining the absolute best of friends forever and ever.
